It has been two weeks since the government suspended SportPesa’s online payment services for allegedly failing to comply with industry rules.
The betting firm has since maintained that they are tax compliant and that they did not know why the licences were being withdrawn. The matter is pending before the courts.
The company says it is operational and one can still play and withdraw their money as usual despite government crackdown.
However, the withdrawal is meant for punters who still have money in their SportPesa betting wallets since one cannot deposit money in their suspended paybill number.
With many Kenyans locked out of the company’s pay bill numbers services, the betting firm has been telling its customers that they are still working to restore normal operations.
Gamblers have been waiting patiently for positive update from the company of being back in operation but there seems to be no end in sight at the moment over the stand-off.
With the matter still pending before the courts, the feedback from SportPesa has been same since the shutdown started.
